Importance of Pedagogical Principles in the Construction of Knowledge in Early Childhood Basic Education Students

Abstract

Early childhood education is a fundamental stage in children's holistic development, as the foundations for learning and knowledge construction are established during the first years of life. In this process, pedagogical principles guide teaching practice and foster meaningful experiences that contribute to students' cognitive, social, and emotional development. To analyze the importance of pedagogical principles in knowledge construction among early childhood education students, based on the perceptions of teachers working in educational institutions. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach, with a descriptive design and a field research method. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with five early childhood education teachers to gather information on their perceptions and experiences regarding the application of pedagogical principles in the classroom. The results showed that the most relevant pedagogical principles are holistic development, active learning, social interaction, motivation, and contextualization. Furthermore, it was identified that strategies such as play, learning centers, dramatization, and the use of concrete materials promote knowledge construction and meaningful learning. It is concluded that the appropriate application of pedagogical principles strengthens teaching and learning processes in Early Childhood Education, promoting the development of cognitive, social, and emotional skills that contribute to the holistic development of students.
