Code of ethics and editorial best practices

Revista Científica Multidisciplinar NEXA conducts its editorial activities in accordance with the principles of integrity, transparency, responsibility, and best practices in scholarly communication. The journal takes as a reference the guidelines and best practices promoted by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applies these principles throughout manuscript submission, evaluation, editorial decision-making, publication, and, where appropriate, correction or retraction of scientific works.

Compliance with these provisions is the responsibility of authors, reviewers, members of the editorial team, and all other participants involved in the editorial process.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original, unpublished, and legitimately their own work, and that they are not simultaneously under consideration by another journal.

Any information, ideas, data, images, tables, figures, or content obtained from other sources must be properly identified and cited in accordance with the journal's editorial guidelines.

Authors must provide accurate information regarding their identity, institutional affiliation, contribution to the work, and any other metadata required by the journal. Authorship must be limited to individuals who have made a substantial contribution to the development of the work.

Where applicable, authors must disclose funding sources, potential conflicts of interest, and any other circumstances that could influence the interpretation of the results.

Fabrication, falsification, or improper manipulation of data; plagiarism; undisclosed self-plagiarism; duplicate publication; misappropriation of ideas; or any other conduct contrary to research integrity may result in rejection of the manuscript or the adoption of post-publication measures.

2. Originality and Plagiarism Prevention

All manuscripts received will be subject to originality and similarity checks in accordance with the journal's Anti-Plagiarism Policy.

Results obtained through similarity detection tools will be qualitatively evaluated by the editorial team. A similarity percentage does not, by itself, constitute an automatic determination of plagiarism.

When potential irregularities are identified, the editorial team will examine the case and may request explanations or additional documentation from the authors before making a decision.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Manuscripts that successfully pass the preliminary editorial review will be evaluated through the journal's double-blind peer review system.

Reviewers must act objectively, independently, impartially, and confidentially. Their comments must be based on academic and scientific criteria and expressed in a respectful and constructive manner.

Reviewers must not use, disclose, or exploit for personal benefit any information contained in manuscripts submitted for evaluation.

When an academic, professional, institutional, financial, or personal conflict of interest exists that could affect the objectivity of the evaluation, the reviewer must inform the editorial team and refrain from participating in the review process.

4. Responsibilities of the Editorial Team

The editorial team will ensure that decisions concerning manuscripts are based on their thematic relevance, originality, scientific and methodological quality, compliance with editorial guidelines, and the results of the peer-review process.

Editorial decisions must not be influenced by commercial considerations or by factors unrelated to the academic and scientific merit of the manuscripts.

Information related to manuscripts submitted for evaluation will be treated confidentially and used exclusively for purposes related to the editorial process.

The final decision to accept or reject a manuscript rests with the Editor or the competent editorial authority of Revista Científica Multidisciplinar NEXA, taking into consideration the reviewers' reports, revisions made by the authors, and compliance with the journal's editorial policies.

5. Conflicts of Interest

Authors, reviewers, and members of the editorial team must disclose any conflict of interest that may affect, or could reasonably be perceived as affecting, the independence, objectivity, or transparency of the editorial process.

When a conflict compromises the impartiality of a person participating in the evaluation or editorial decision, that person must refrain from participating in the corresponding procedure.

6. Confidentiality

Manuscripts received and documentation generated during the evaluation process will be treated confidentially.

The identities of authors and reviewers will be protected in accordance with the journal's double-blind peer-review system. Review reports and other editorial documentation must not be disclosed outside the corresponding process, except where there is a legal obligation or a duly justified ethical need.

7. Corrections, Retractions, and Post-Publication Actions

When significant errors, research integrity concerns, or other circumstances affecting published content are identified after publication, the journal will evaluate the case and take the appropriate editorial action.

Depending on the nature and severity of the situation, the journal may publish corrections, clarifications, expressions of concern, or retractions, seeking to preserve the transparency and traceability of the scholarly record.

Post-publication actions will be carried out taking into consideration editorial best practices and applicable COPE guidance.

8. Complaints and Potential Misconduct

Communications concerning potential cases of plagiarism, data manipulation, improper authorship, duplicate publication, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or other possible ethical violations will be examined objectively and confidentially.

Before making a decision, the journal may request explanations, documentation, or evidence from the persons involved. Editorial measures will be proportionate to the nature and severity of the identified circumstances.

Where appropriate, the journal may communicate with the institutions involved or other relevant parties, while respecting the principles of confidentiality, due assessment, and documentation of the procedure.

9. Editorial Independence

Decisions to accept or reject manuscripts are independent of the financial interests associated with publication.

Payment of any applicable Article Processing Charge (APC) will only be required after the manuscript has been formally accepted and will neither condition nor influence the peer-review process or the editorial decision.

10. Editorial Records and Traceability

The journal will endeavor to preserve essential records related to the editorial process of each manuscript, including, where applicable, receipt, preliminary editorial review, peer review, communications with authors, revised versions, editorial decision, and publication.

Editorial dates displayed in published articles must correspond to the records available in the manuscript's editorial file.

11. Commitment to Research Integrity

Revista Científica Multidisciplinar NEXA will continuously promote best practices in scholarly publishing and may update this Code of Ethics whenever necessary to strengthen its procedures for integrity, transparency, and editorial quality.
